Small Groups
Spirit Feast
These three groups, open to all who identify as women, meet monthly for dinner, sharing, and spiritual sustenance. If you are interested in joining the Spirit Feast community, check with the contact people from each group to see if they are currently able to extend invitations to new members: Laura Hostetler [email protected], Liz Dyrst lmdyrst @gmail.com, Jody Schmidt, [email protected]
Men’s Groups
Men’s group, open to all who identify as men, meets at the church following worship on the second Sunday of every month to explore friendship and spirituality as men. Aiming for a conversation that is open and honest, the group asks participants to maintain a high level of confidentiality and a commitment to make participation in the group a scheduling priority. Check with the contact person to see if the group is currently able to extend invitations to new members: Mark Frey, [email protected].
Beer Group
Periodically beer lovers gather to share favorite brews, to hang out, and to share food and/or snacks. Gatherings move around the city and are hosted by various church members. Most months feature a particular type of beer, IPAs or hefeweizens or stouts, etc. All are welcome to join in anytime. Contact: Chris Bohlander, [email protected].
Intentional Circles (support groups)
CCMC has a strong tradition of collective pastoral care, and Intentional Circles are an important part of our life together. These ad hoc groups form around an individual or family to listen, aid discernment and offer wisdom during difficult times. Groups have formed around those who are grieving, separating from partners, discerning job transitions, or struggling with mental health, as just a few examples. If you would like to explore forming a group for yourself or a loved one, contact the Prayer and Care Team.
Other occasional groups
Don’t feel like you fit in any of these groups? Want to do something new, in company with others? Over the years, we have convened small groups for a variety of topics and activities: Bible study, reading spiritual books together, exploring death & dying, grief support, singles of all ages, studies on peace and conflict resolution, learning new music to share in worship. If you would like to explore convening a group, CCMC is a great place to follow your passion in doing so! Contact the pastor at [email protected].
