The Kauffmann Fund
The Kauffmann Fund supports much of our congregation’s outreach and mutual aid, and is distributed by the mutual aid team. Established in 2005 with a large donation from Miriam Kauffmann, this benevolence fund—named for the beloved Kauffmann family, CCMC’s spiritual grandparents—enables us to care for one another and give to causes above and beyond those designated in our annual operating budget. The Fund accepts contributions from any member or friend of CCMC.
Purpose
The Kauffmann Fund provides support for outreach, mutual aid, programs, activities, institutions, and situations that lie close to the heart and soul of members of CCMC. Funds typically support emergency or special-need situations, and are not typically provided for on-going funding or support.
In addition to this general purpose, we note that Kauffmann Fund resources have historically been used to enable participants in Mennonite Voluntary Service to fully participate in the life of the congregation, for example, subsidizing their participation in the annual church retreat at Menno Haven and the annual church canoeing trip.
Some qualifying Kauffmann Fund disbursements have been matched by Everence through Everence's Sharing Fund matching grant program. This has been an effective way to enhance the fund's ministry.
Unsolicited Support
The mutual aid team may make disbursements on an unsolicited basis as they become aware of need.
