Statement of Marriage Practice
Chicago Community Mennonite Church as a Christian body believes “mission through service and mutual care is an important aspect of our identity as disciples of Christ.” As part of our mutual care, we seek to meet the spiritual needs of those who are part of our body: young and old; single and partnered; gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight. We also affirm our commitment to mutual care and participation in Central District Conference. One of the ways we support each other is through celebrating with the couples among us who wish to make a lifetime commitment to each other and mark that commitment with a ceremony. We bless our pastor and other members of our congregation to provide premarital counseling to couples and to lead such ceremonies as they see fit for any couple connected to our congregation.
