Norwegian American Hospital in Humboldt Park
There are a number of ways you can support patients and staff at Norwegian where Gab Sauder works:
  • Make Homemade masks to give our patients/community: while we currently have enough masks for our staff, we don't have enough to give our patients. Given that we are seeing many COVID positive patients, we would love to give them a mask to take home.
  • Books, games, playing cards etc. Many of our patients who are hospitalized have stated that they get bored. We have a no visitor restriction, have limited interactions and can longer share items, so folks are bored and we quickly deplete our normal stock. We would welcome books, games, puzzles, anything that could help our patients. We also have a high population of those who only speak Spanish, so materials in Spanish would also be greatly appreciated.
  • Cards/Poster - would LOVE cards, notes, posters or other words/drawings of encouragement. It's fairly bleak right now, so we would love these types of things for patients and/or our staff. Get your creative juicy flowing!
  • Food - If you want to support a local restaurant AND feed staff, we are accepting food donations. You can feed a department of any size or provide dessert/special drinks. We are unable to accept homemade items.
  • Monetary Donation: If you want to donate to our COVID activities, you can do so here. If you want to donate to a cause, like Nurses Week or Hospital Week, let me know and we can also make that happen.
If anyone wants to help out in any way, they should email me at work: gsauder@nahospital.org and I will connect them to the right person for delivery/coordination. If it's easier, you could also drop off masks/cards to our condo's front desk at 1629 S Prairie Ave.

Rogers Park Community Response Team
On the North side there is the Rogers Park Community Response Team, an organization of neighbors who are supporting those who cannot leave their homes for various reasons or have lost income. They are looking for more volunteers to pick up and deliver groceries, and can always use donations! Visit rpcrt.org for more information.

Donate to BPNC
BPNC has launched a gofundme Community Response Fund in an effort to provide 500 of these families with $500 cash assistance, rental assistance or food support. So far, we’ve raised enough to provide support to 270 families. These are people who are ineligible for any other form of assistance, and will not be receiving any federal cash. For these families, this assistance might be the only support they receive. Click here to visit the Community Response Fund
